We are coming to the end of November and my first month here at Alexander Academy. I have really enjoyed getting to know the students over the last month. I have been very impressed with their level of English and their work ethic.
In science this month we have been looking at habitats of animals and how these animals have adapted to their habitat. We have also specifically looked into the habitat of rivers and forests. This included building a diorama of a river and forest using clay and salt dough. We also spent some time thinking about the animals and plants that live in these environments and how they have adapted to their habitat.
In social studies this month we have been looking at different cultures and traditions. This includes looking at traditions and culture in Taiwan and the children’s own families, but also looking at culture and traditions around the world in other countries. I hope the children have managed to build on their understanding and appreciation of other cultures.
In writing this month we started a new topic called the magic mirror. The students chose this topic themselves as they thought it would be something interesting to write about. So far they have put of lot of thought and effort into their stories and I have been very impressed by the outcome. In grammar will have been continuing to learn about nouns and verbs and I have been very impressed by the students’ knowledge.
I hope we can continue this progress and hard work in December.
