Dear parents, as the second month of English school comes to an end I want to take some time to inform you about what we have been doing so far. The class has been doing great so far. We are all back on track concerning routines and are having a lot of fun learning experiences. In spelling class the students learned a lot of new words and are able to put them in the context of a sentence they constructed themselves. By doing this, the students are having a good exercise in making a correct sentence and creating a context for a word that they understand. In grammar class we looked into the different kinds of words that we can find back in a sentence. We are focusing on making grammatically sound sentences that are enriched by adjectives and adverbs.
In Science class we have been looking into the differences between all kinds of organisms and living things. We finished talking about plants by having an in depth look into plant’s lifecycles. We started learning about vertebrates and how we can group them. We looked into the 5 different types of vertebrates and learned how to compare and contrast them. By doing this we created a clear idea of what makes them different but also alike.
In social studies we looked into regions and how we define them. We looked into the differences and similarities between political and geographical regions. We learned about what makes each country unique and looked into the differences between political systems. We also found out that we can define regions by looking at the way people live. In this way we differentiated between the urban, suburban, and rural area. We saw that the rural and urban area need to work together because they each have products and services that are valuable and essential to modern life.
In reading and writing class we started our first writing project. During the first week we created a brainstorm that was focused on picking characters, a setting, and a plot. We also made clear guidelines for the contents of our beginnings, middles, and ends. During the second week we rewrote our beginning and made sure we were of to a good start. After reassuring our beginning we started writing our middle and end using our first week’s brainstorm and story guidelines.
